On January 6, 2021, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) published in the Federal Register the final rules for five persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic (PBT) substances. The final rules apply to DecaBDE+ in substances, mixtures or articles. Brominated diphenyl ether, PIP (3:1) isopropylated triphenyl phosphate, PCTP pentachlorothiophenol, HCBD hexachlorobutadiene, 2,4,6-TTBP 2,4,6 tri-tert-butyl A total of five PBT substances in phenol have put forward control requirements. These requirements have come into effect on February 5, 2021, and will be gradually implemented on March 8.

TSCA Act background

The United States Toxic Substances Control Act (Toxic Substances Control Act), referred to as TSCA. The bill aims to comprehensively consider the environmental, economic and social impact of chemical substances circulating in the United States and prevent "unreasonable risks" to human health and the environment. After several revisions, TSCA has become an important regulation for effective management of chemical substances in the United States.

In January 2021, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) restricts the use of these five persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic (PBT) chemical substances in accordance with the final rules for five persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic (PBT) chemical substances published by TSCA in the Federal Register.

TSCA control scope

Chemical substances or chemicals that are circulated in the United States and belong to the TSCA regulatory category.

Responses

With the introduction of new EPA regulations, TSCA hazardous substance control will be implemented in phases from March 8, 2021. Relevant companies need to pay attention to the qualification of products in advance, otherwise they will be prohibited from listing.

Anrui Testing and Certification starts with testing to check product quality, help companies optimize products, and help companies respond to new regulations and gain competitive advantages.
